We’re talking all about listening (Oh the irony)
It’s been said that we evaluate our ability to listen much like we evaluate our ability to drive a car. We grossly over estimate our skills. To help us discover what it means to listen deeply I’m joined by the leading expert in this space, Oscar Trimboli.
Oscar is an author, host of the Apple award-winning podcast Deep Listening and a sought-after keynote speaker. He is passionate about using the gift of listening to bring positive change in homes, workplaces and cultures around the world.
Through his work with chairs, boards of directors and executive teams in local, regional and global organisations, Oscar has experienced firsthand the transformational impact leaders and organisations can have when they listen beyond the words.
He believes that leadership teams need to focus their attention and their listening on building organisations that have impact and create powerful legacies for the people they serve – today and, more importantly, for future generations.
Oscar is a marketing and technology industry veteran with over 30 years’ experience across general management, sales, marketing and operations for Microsoft, PeopleSoft, Polycom, Professional Advantage and Vodafone.

We’re kicking off season 05 with a bang with the incredible Kim Kaupe joining me to talk about showing up more intentionally online.
Kim told me that people can NO you before they KNOW you because of how we show up online. I give her a call to talk about what we need to know about positioning ourselves in this globally connected society we live in.
In January 2020 at age 34 Kim kicked off a tour with Oprah while juggling clients like Paul McCartney, The NY Mets, Ace Comic Con & Shawn Mendes. In those 9 years she learned how to go from zero clients to Oprah, no one knowing who she was to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and not knowing what an LLC was to securing offers from 4 out of 5 sharks on Shark Tank.
Kim describers herself as an accidental entrepreneur and now works with executives & future leaders to harness their voice & image to expand their network. She dusts off the ordinary to reveal the extraordinary in her clients whose perceived value in the workplace does not match the actual value they bring to the table.

We're doing something a little different for the final episode of 2021
As I look back and celebrate one year of the Phone Calls With Clever People Podcast I'm joined by my good friend Rohan Dredge from my first ever episode. Rohan joins me again to turn the tables and interview me for the show. In this episode we take time to reflect on where this all started, what's changed and what we're noticing in the world, what I've learned from over a year of interviews with clever people and what's next for me.
If you don't know me my name is Shane Michael Hatton and I'm the host of Phone Calls With Clever People. I'm a Queenslander by birth, Melbournian by choice, curious by nature and a creative at heart. I'm a leadership speaker, author, trainer and coach helping to develop Remarkable People Leaders. The kind of leaders that you talk about and remember. I love talking all things leadership, culture and communication. I'm a Gallup certified strengths coach, member of the Forbes Global Coaches Council, founder of the People Leaders Network and the author of ‘Lead The Room – Communicate a Message That Counts in Moments That Matter’. I also serve as director for the Asia Pacific Region Board of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
